Its important for a cataloger to actually look at the coin that he is describing

Listed as a gold cac in the title link

Further described in the listing as GOLD CAC'D

"1824 50C O-111, R.2, MS64 NGC. Gold CAC. The large center dot with a circle around it readily identifies the obverse of this variety. The reverse displays a nifty identifier that Dr. Glenn Peterson documents in his reference, a small die line extending diagonally to the left from the rear of the highest set of fletchings. This colorful Gem boasts wonderful, deep luster amid an array of colors from the wine and blue palettes. The Gold CAC label on this coin will further increase the appeal to an array of collecting camps. The 5 in the denomination is weakly struck, as are the eagle's claws just above.
From The Hamilton Collection, Part II. (NGC ID# 24FK, Variety PCGS# 39631, Base PCGS# 6137) "

..........

....but..... the photos show no sticker and the cac website does not have the cert come up.

any ideas what happened?
may the fonz be with you...always...

It was probably in a PCGS holder with lower grade and sticker.......then crossed to ngc where it got the higher 64 grade and no sticker.

I personally don't like the coin. I have seen MANY 58's posted here that are MUCH better looking than this coin.

Copy and paste error? Email Mark Feld. I caught a significant error in a catalog once, and Mark was able to have it corrected within 24 hours.

I have no idea. But the cataloger sure was stretching with his description. An obscure die line no one would note or care about? A "colorful gem with wonderful, deep luster amid an array of colors from the wine and blue palettes." Say what?

Maybe he's talking about a different coin.

Is that from the George Hamilton collection?

Something similar happened to me, with a coin I bought from Pinnacle. (Albeit involving a green bean rather than a gold one.)

They said this 3cN was CAC, but it isn't. I didn't care, because I liked the coin and had noticed the lack of the bean on the holder. I didn't really care so much about the sticker anyway. Nor do I know if that coin has ever really been to CAC or not.

More likely an error of posting one coin while the description was intended for another.

You should have got a discount then?

I'm sure their price reflected it being a CAC coin.

I don't remember. I do think I got a discount, but because of bargaining, not the CAC oversight (which they were careful to correct before I paid). I was content with the price I paid.
