National Token Collectors show in Fargo, ND

Attended the National Token Collectors annual show in Fargo, ND this weekend. It is amazing to see how organized some dealers are and how some are not. My OCD was being challenged!

A decent number of dealers and all very friendly. I don't collect tokens but it is fun to take my kids.

Sounds like fun. OCD or not (I have a little myself), I would've really enjoyed browsing that bourse.

But Fargo is almost as exotic to my imagination as Burkina-Faso or Macchu Picchu.

The token show is kinda of a strain on inventory. I was set up at the show and not specializing it tokens or medals I worked really hard the last 3 months to build up enough stock to entertain customers and other dealers.

So far most of my token/medal sales have been to other dealers. Who are as you guessed collectors themselves. Still being one of the few dealers there with bullion I sold a quite a bit of that. With the majority of my sales still being in US coins.

We would love to have you at the show. Fargo is not quite as exotic as the brochures look, but it's nice. Today was 80 and windy, I think we are in for rain the next two days.

Margie Gunderson: So that was Mrs Lundegaard on the floor in there. And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money. There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it.

Some tokens are quite interesting.... I would be ecstatic with a token show in this area... the most exciting thing around here is the local farmer's market... Cheers, RickO

I was gonna go the movie quote route too, but decided folks in Fargo are surely sick of that by now and ready to throw anyone who mentions wood chippers into a wood chipper.

Sorta like we Georgians might feel if everyone quoted Scarlett O'Hara to us or said, "squeal lak a pig".

Today at the show was sort of a bust. Maybe 10-15 collectors came in the door.
When the camera person from the news team came in I think she was a bit disappointed.

I did however buy one thing for myself. None token related however.

Yea, I imagine a holiday weekend is a tough one for a specialized show. What with your wife reminding you that you're going to mom's for a cook-out.....

I think the main issue was there was NO advertising locally that I noticed and it was also mentioned by another dealer.

Highest table fees I've paid. Yet no advertising.
