I live in the Pittsburgh area. If I see this dude, I'll gladly call the police and have this dude put away. With a mug like that, he sticks out like a sore thumb!
If common sense is so common, why is it so uncommon?
This zombie is a perfect example of where and how Sharia law might be useful. A sizable mass of Semtex duck taped to his hands and then detonated would do the job very nicely.
Met Larry recently in St Louis. We talked about another guy who was in the circuit doing this same kind of stuff. The hobby is full of "bad guys". The law never sleeps and that's enough cause for celebration. Criminals can't rest, on the run.
Sorry to hear this happened. The 1854 $1s can be seen on his website. They are both AU coins or UNC details coins, which is why the prices are similar. Nonetheless, hopefully these can be recovered if someone sees a guy trying to sell 2 expensive raw 1854 $1s. I think that will be where he is caught.
--- Did this guy steal the coins on the show room floor or while the dealer was on the way to his car
--- I suspect the guy give him a bad check.
do you guys actually read the OP or do you see the thread title and then engage in speculation?? it is all there very clearly --- The suspect enters a coin show and asks to look through a series. He runs a distraction and starts lifting the coins. that seems pretty straight forward.

Larry Briggs has told me that his preferred method would involve taking his time shooting a .22 through each knuckle of each hand. I'm sure that would apply in this case as well.
Lifting 10 seated dollars out of a single or double row red box isn't the easiest thing to do. The coins are big and 10 of them missing would significantly change the spacing. Letting a known dealer flip through your thousand dollar and up coins is one thing. Hopefully they get found soon.
I feel really bad about this. I spoke to Larry on the phone last night about a couple of coins I have down at SEGS for grading. He is a very respected person and great numismatist. Hope justice is served up soon. He gave me a heads up about this. buffnixx

Stolen items rarely get recovered, a few exceptions come to mind like the Julian Leidman heist many years ago. I think he got most all of it back; it's worse when the stolen stuff is on consignment....
One reason I don't do shows anymore, I am too gullible/trusting. A part time "dealer" lifted some gold coins at a show I was doing when I wasn't looking, the only guy who looked through my stuff, and another collector clued me into the guy's habits.
I heard over the weekend a few of the coins were purchased by a dealer who didn't know about the theft and later found out possibly here or on another website. He is doing the right thing and contacted Larry!

May justice be swift and severe for this POS.

I hope that they catch him trying to fence the goods.
Doesn't look too bright, either.

That is great. When I saw the theft was in Monroeville, I hoped he looked like a zombie!

As to above the answer is yes, and will be so as long as you live.
The one thing my wife cannot stand is the fact that
she is only right 65% of the time.
