~*~*~ The COIN ART thread ~*~*~

Let's see your "creatively damaged" coins, be they hobo carvings, love tokens, counterstamps, graffiti coins, coin jewelry, or anything else odd or interesting done with a coin!

This started out as "HOBO & LOVE TOKEN TUESDAY", but there's so much more to it, and I can't always keep up with a Tuesday schedule, so let's make it an ongoing thing, hopefully something like the Seated and Barber megathreads.

Here were the first two threads. I encourage anyone who posted their stuff to those threads to repost 'em here, and we can keep this going with the occasional bump when somebody adds something interesting.

HOBO & LOVE TOKEN TUESDAY (vol. 1)

HOBO & LOVE TOKEN TUESDAY (vol. 2)

PS- but it doesn't look like it's done on an actual Buffalo nickel host coin, somehow?

Is that a larger struck token, by any chance? Silver round, maybe?

A couple stars of my collection

The dime is from San Francisco. The star on the cent seems slightly irregular.

I like those starry coins. Particularly the IHC, for some reason. They've got character.

Lance's popout Barber stickpin is also nice- nicer than the norm for those, I think.

I am way behind on my recent newps and hope to add a few soon.

1892 Columbian Expo Half Dollar made into a cigar cutter. Well made. Blade is spring released by pressing the button on the edge. A friend that collects items from the Columbian Expo says that this is only the second one of these he has seen. He has been trying to obtain one for his collection for over ten years and has yet to find one for sale.

But what is that love token with the waterbirds on it? That is fan-freakin'-tastic! Looks like a pretty large host coin... silver dollar?

I dunno what keeps happening with the images.

H&C's most recent post above this one are all broken now, too.

Pix seem to show a while and then go bad.

I thought it might just be me, but no- apparently this software has issues.

    Wow. A Hawaiian half cutout!

H&C, your stuff never ceases to amaze.

Probably makes the more mainstream folks cry or gnash their teeth, but I love it. Those "heartbreaker" coins can be heartbreaking and appealing all at the same time.

That's more "art with coins" than it is "coins with art", but it works, as far as I'm concerned. Cool posters.

Why do you suppose they put the coins in them?
