Hey, what happened to the "delete your own post" option?

lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,789 ✭✭✭✭✭
Somebody deleted it. image

Not that I've needed it that often, but it came in handy for deleting redundant double- and triple- posts made by accident, or removing obsolete BST posts.

Guess we're back to the old "edit everything out but a period" again.

Let me post and see if I can delete it.

Nope. Can't delete it. But I can edit it.

How do you go about finding what state someone is from?

    Just ask.

    PA.

Edit: I know what you're saying.

The user profiles aren't as smooth to share as they used to be.

    For me, anyway.

I don't think I ever even knew that an entire message could be deleted. image

It WAS a feature of the new software. Was just to the right of the "Edit" button on each post.

Now the procedure for deleting your post is to simply add a response that violates all of the forum rules. It will get speedily deleted! So will your account, but that's beside the point.

    Simple never post.

It appears to have been deleted.

Timing of this leads me to believe that someone complained about the thread about the auction issue.

In that, the OP started the thread then removed their post and the thread had a few heated moments.

So, TPTB likely looked into it and the missing post (that the OP deleted himself) was likely noted and the "delete your own post" option was likely removed because of it.

The easy way to delete your post is to edit is to something completely different. Serves the same purpose.

The department of redundancy department should have kept that feature.

Any real idea as to why our host did that?

It was virtually the only improvement in the new software. Figures

Not sure if this was the reason, but someone on the card threads brought up 10 year old threads then quickly deleted their post.
