Will anyone here be moving into 1st place in the PCGS Registry this year (only few days left)?

mercurydimeguymercurydimeguy Posts: 4,625 ✭✭✭✭
For people who have registry sets, and have moved into 1st place (Current Finest and/or All-time Finest) by June 30, 2016. If so, post links to your sets.

I have 5 Registry Sets in all, but this is the only one that moved into the top spot (Current and All-time).

    Jon,

I stopped searching for the varieties and focused my attention on This Roosie Set. If a variety comes along that I need at a decent price then OK I'll bite.

    Paul,

I'll only be 91 by that time and will still be in 1st place image

I've not really understood the Registry Set competition. But then again, I don't have the funds to compete. Anyway, do the winners actually win anything other than a small amount of fame? Seriously, put on a Chewbacca mask and laugh like an idiot and there's apparently a lot more fame to be had.
    I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.

I remember years ago I sniped my way into a #1.

There were a number of sets tied for #1 (this was back in 2002 when being #1 was easy).

I had bought the coin that would put me as #1 in the set and bump everybody else down to a tie at #2, but didn't enter it until the night before the deadline so nobody else would rush out and buy one. image

Doing the same as we speak. Won't publish set until 4pm EST on Thursday. Description Header, Pictures, Digital Album all ready to go. Working on the set for the last year. Be a sad day if someone else is sandbagging as well. image

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

Sniping in the Registry updates...I would not have thought of that...it's always something to get the edge on the competition.

I suppose I could make a move if I wanted to buy points with 70's but that doesn't make sense. I would rather spend that money on true gems.

I guess I don't really understand the Registry Set rules? What is the significance of moving into 1st place late on June 30th?

Most of the set was purchased prior to the advent of CAC and stickered later. The early dollars however were mainly after CAC. A few of those aren't stickered still but I know why and I accept the fact. For instance, JA calls the fingerprint 1799 dollar an original 65 due to the print - but I bought it at 65+ money and I'm happy with it. Eventually, he will sticker the 1798 SE dollar as its hands down the finest known and IMO a no brainer 63. The 1801 we will just have to disagree on - he doesn't like friction on the cheek and I accept it for the grade. That's pretty much it!

My express submission should be done but it won't be enough to knock off Cardinal (not that I am even trying) from the Spanish Milled set until I find an MS 4R Pillar.

There was a VERY obscure Registry Set set I thought I had a shot at:

The Rxxxxxx Hxxxxxxxx of Rxxxxxxxxx TX Safety Deposit Box 1124 set.

I thought since I was the only one who had a key to that Safety Deposit Box, I would be #1

Sadly, I came in 3rd. Competition is fierce for #1

I only have one set and even though it is complete there is not much chance of it ever being number one. CC Low Ball Morgans. I did go from nothing to number 5 this year.

I'm #35 out of 40 in my one and only set........and that's okay with me.

Well I will be darn, Guess I snagged 2. Its been 8 years. I thought for sure my good friend AUHobby would bounce in at the last minute especially when I saw some one got a couple of coins graded he needed to do me in. I expect to bumped down eventually. And of course I owe a big thanks to Doug for selling his proofs this year! LOL

    Stooge,
I'll be 100 plus by then, but in the interim, I plan to win Nick's set in a golf death grudge match (using my rules and referee) and merge it with mine....then I'd be numero uno...image

Seriously, you'll need a ton of major league Roosies to top Nick's set.

And, the Pop 1/0 PCGS-MS68FB 1964-D Roosie (from the former JHF set) will appear in the August Anaheim Heritage auction at NO RESERVE, so Nick may just end up picking up yet another cool coin for his set.

That is a beautiful Dime Wondercoin, but Nick will never shell out $10 large for any Roosie.

The dime starts at $1 with no reserve and may not end at anywhere near $10 large. In fact, it could end at closer to $1 than $10 large. You never know with unreserved coins.

I am surprised that 64-D made 68 with all the bad gouges on the bottom of the torch. And also the hit on the bands should have kept it from FB.
