Strike Doubling is restricted for any premium! Why?
Hi guy's, We are constantly bombarded with threads about the dreaded "Strike doubling". So, in saying that I always wondered Why? Why shouldn't this misfit of coins get any respect as other defects, true doubling or error coins do? Isn't this still a mistake made by the Mint, capable of receiving some sort of addition in the error/variety family? Just wondering? Thanks in advance.-joey

had to think about it but for me it is usually ugly and i can find beauty in most things.
it is at the minor end of the spectrum of striking errors.
o/c, brockage, d/s, clips, cuds etc are simply tastier to me.
all i got.
.
Because it's an unavoidable side effect of the way coins are manufactured, and therefore of little interest.

A few extreme examples seem to carry a premium.

I was offered a premium for this 1967 Kennedy SMS Coin:
