Aluminum Pop Top

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,942 ✭✭✭✭✭
We talked about the interesting HK371 / 375 overstruck dime mules that sold at HA last week.

Unfortunately I lost those pieces. But I did win the consolation prize: The pop top HK 374 struck in aluminum.

Really neat metal for this medal--goes from black & white cameo to mercury-like silver with just a small tilt of the piece.

Textured fields really show with the aluminum strike.

My first ever attempt at photographing AL. It's not easy, but the texturing you mentioned really makes for an interesting appearance.

    I'll keep working at it...

Got excited for a second because I was hoping aluminum pop tops from soda cans were being used as currency. Every metal detectorist rejoices!!

Yep... thought this was a metal detecting post.... image The coin looks nice for aluminum. I have never cared for aluminum coins because of weight and usually flat, visual appearance. This one is different. Cheers, RickO
