    From the 1876 centennial maybe?

It's a quality piece, very likely from the late 1800s. Hope others can help!

I've never seen it before but everything about it says 1876 US Centennial celebration medal. I wonder if there are similar medals featuring other individuals?

As 291fifth says, this is a US Centennial celebration medal. That should take you directly to Ron Abler's site on Centennial medals, where this is listed as Abler 110 in the Declaration of Independence section.

This piece was struck in silver (and as far as I know only in silver), so the White Metal attribution on Ron's site is odd. This medal has in the past been attributed to Connecticut numismatist Alfred S. Robinson, although there is apparently some question about that. My notes say that there were 100 struck.

In short, this is a rare piece, but also an obscure one so there probably isn't much market for it. Considering that yours appears to be in excellent condition I wouldn't be surprised to see it sell in the $100-$200 range if slabbed.

sometimes I don't know what is better, the forum or eBay, so I guess I'll settle on thinking that when the two are used wisely in unison some good things happen.
