I am not sure about this one being a DDO, at least not one being attributable through PCGS. As far as being to meet/exceed CAC standards, it depends on what PCGS/NGC grades it at. JA may not like the apparent "carbon spots" on the obverse at any grade.

What does the "S" in TRUST look like? Are there any "split serifs" I believe the term is called. It looks like shelf doubling to me, flat and non-rounded.

The ERT look re-engraved similar to seen on some 1938 proof nickels.

As mentioned...CAC is dependent on what grade a coin is given and how "good" it is within that grade.
So, without a grade yet....there is no way one can guess if it will CAC or not.

I have had a few early Jefferson's with this type of "re-engraving" especially on the "T" of Liberty...or was it the "T's" in Trust...and the loops of B and R. Time to break 'em out and take another look.

Here's a couple of images ( side by side ) of " LIBERTY " from Brian site, for DDO-001 .
Kept in mind, Brian coin is a later die state too ..

I see some similarities, but in order for yours to be the DDO-001 wouldn't the markers have to be identical? They are not.

The split serif in Brian's B is evident, I don't see it in yours. The T is completely different from yours.

Like I said yesterday, when I receive the coin, I'll take new images .
I can work some magic with my photo program to catch the split serif on the top of the " B " .

You may be correct on the die states. You could always send it to Wiles at VarietyVista / CONECA for designation.

I am confused about the CAC question, as I thought they just designated solid for the grade with no hidden problems?

If that is blue or purple in the centers of the nickel, I suspect you may get an AT from PCGS.
