I voted a 7 cause it is a nice coin with appealing color, but a weak strike.

    I voted 6

    I figure 7-8.

It has nice surfaces and color going for it. No prominent, ugly spots. Hard to say about the shoulder...commonly rough due to planchet defects difficult to strike-out. The weak O in ONE (and PLU) suggests the shoulder isn't ideal. MER a little weak too, another troublesome spot (opposite the head).

These come pretty nice and often with great color. Looks RB to me, not BN.

I gave it an 8. I love the color and luster, but the weak strike hurts it a bit.

I voted 5 as I see a limited amount of color and the weakly struck O in ONE.

Were this any other date than a 57D, which is literally the most common colorful date/mintmark of the wheat cent series, I would have given it higher than a six.
I'd like my copper well done please!

Looks like Im with the majority with a 7 vote. Some distractions in the field above LIBERTY and the weak "O" on the reverse bring this down from a colorful 8 to a respectable 7.
That being said, I'd pass on this and look for a monster 57-d. You know they're out there.

    I gave it a 7.

I think the lighting gives a harsher than deserved look, but that did impact how I viewed it.

I went 8.5, so rounded up to 9. Pretty coin.

PS- in my personal opinion, comparing the OP coin against the two BG posted, I'd rank it equal in eye appeal to his first one (the PCGS 66 RB), and better than the second one (the NGC 67* RB).

I gave it a 7 before reading other posts. But I think I was primarily ranking the picture of the coin rather than the coin by itself.

The results are interesting--it looks close to a normal distribution around 7.

And, I agree with Lord M when ranking the three (pretty) cents pictured in this thread.

You asked specifically about eye appeal, which encompasses many things, not just toning. Therefore, as much as I like the toning and color, as others have stated, the weakness of strike keeps this no higher than an 8 in my opinion.
