Coinstar wishes me a happy Mothers Day

I have never found anything at our local Coinstar, but apparently it was waiting for the right occasion. Today, I scored $0.89 in modern cents, a beat up 1983 quarter, a Canadian quarter, and (drumroll) a well-worn 1944 Washington!

Congratulations on the silver.
The grandkids are used to getting coins for Christmas. The wheat cents were not interesting to them, but my youngest granddaughter carefully saves - and shows off - the big coins I give her. And my youngest grandson considers Ikes to be pirate treasure - he loves 'em!
This year, there will be real silvers dollars in everyone's stockings! I've stocked up on nice white generic Peace dollars. Yeah, some of them will probably just spend them. (Maybe you guys will find them in a change tray somewhere!) But at least a couple will learn a lesson about face value versus silver value, and maybe delaying gratification. A grandma can hope!
while I get lucky at the Coinstar.... no silver yet ....Cheers, RickO

I really like finding quarters, dimes are occasional finds but quarters are few and far betwixt.
I hear vacuum cleaners at the bank work well.
They suck.

But it's just so fun to find a bit of treasure in the wild that I'd like to commemorate the occasion! ;-)
These are some great (and amazing) coin machine finds. Wouldn't it be fun if PCGS would attribute a Coinstar provenance? I know, I know, it's a silly idea.

Nice idea, but Coinstar would want a cut of PCGS's labeling it's name. Than probably, Coinstar would change the return mechanism. So, good bye to anymore change finds.

Please only remember my opening Sig Line. Not to Nitpick, but it does seem like "theft" in that the machine is inside a store no doubt and obviously the coins real owner or tge store have not given you permission to pocket them. ....or does the "finders keepers" thing (legally) apply here. A question for the Atorrneys on this forum.
That is an interesting topic to bring up - often times though it appears as though the store employees are the ones benefiting most from the coin machine reject finds. Which brings this thought into play: Could a manager terminate an employee they find picking coins out of the reject slot?

Actually it really happened. I remember reading, on this forum about this activity envolving a vacuum cleaner and some guy sucking up money at the bank if you can believe that. I almost choked to death laughing so hard.

1964 Roosie in the Coinstar reject bin today!!!
I beat yours by one year, mine is a really dirty '63-D. I am pondering touching base with my attorney to see if I can keep it or if I should contact Coinstar, the store etc in an effort to put out an APB on the person that left it there!
The Coinstar by me charges about 12% to count your coins. Is this the norm? Seems like a pretty hefty cut.
None of my three credit unions charge me so much as a cent to use their machines - and the cute blonde tellers do things like save me piles of coin machine rejects - foreign coins, silver etc.
