I have this 1921 half dollar coin and it has no mintmark. is this possible??
I can not find any suggestion that it has worn off.
have some been made without a mintmark back then?
thanks

Thank you so much for your help.
will be selling it..
the coin came to me in a small Canada Collection amongst some Canadian 50 cent pieces....
seriously I wish it was a 1921 Canadian 50 cent coin.
would be 20K and up in VG ( yes, $20,000 and up, not a typo)
ok, wishful thinking ..
Still a desirable low mintage issue, though this coin has some unusual abrasion marks on it.
Indeed, the Canadian 1921 half is as close to being the holy grail of all of Canadian coinage.
That coin is on the top of my Canada bucket list after the three 1875-H specimen coins.

Oreville , looks like you have some very high level hopes. Good luck on that, sincerely ( I did have a 1921 CAN 50 Ct... but sold it privatly. just way too much $$$ sitting in a drawer.
I looked at this 21 and came to my personal conclusion that the coin might have been cleaned at some time back.Probably just dipped.
which begs the question: which gives cause to a new subject I will post after.
this half will make VG 10, most likely F12 or if I get really lucky, perhaps as coindeuce said, F15.
It will not concern me too much as I will not have it graded and will sell it raw showing really good images.
Question is just where to sell it, offer it here at a set price?? But what should that price be?
or take it to Feebay, start at 99 cents and see where it settles?
what would u guys do?

personally I do not believe that the coin has been subjected to a recent cleaning. Maybe some (long) time ago
have no idea what caused the abrasive marks. they are there. i purposely took the images so they are visible and a prospective buyer can not say that these could not be seen.
I have decided to offer it 4 sale in BST on this forum for a week or so and see where it goes.
Over to BST it goes.
thank again fellows.
