I went 40 also. Technical 45 but I net graded it to 40 for some strike weakness and what appears to be a light cleaning. But I see more knowledgeable folks in bust halves than me are calling it 50, so I'm likely too harsh.
That would make it a crushed letter edge proof. But I think you know that.
Lance.
didnt know the 116 was proof only. the cost of being too diversified i guess.
splains why i never found one too.
good thing i look for others on the 1833 or it would have been some wasted time but then again, it wouldn't be the first time ive looked for something i really had not much idea what i was doing.
going to update my info reroof cbh! should be quick and easy?
Sure. The crushed letter edge proofs are not listed in Overton's book (the '33 O.116, '34 O.122, and '35 O.111). Back in the mid 1990's the BHNC assigned them, bringing the total known die marriages to 453.

I grade it an 1833
Fixed. Thank you!

Thanks for the quote so my comment doesn't look totally weird after the title change. I went with XF45, btw.
I'll go against the grain on this one and say 53
Me too. Too much luster for an XF.

I'd like to hear some input about it and learn a bit.
I want to say it's a weak strike due to the pancake flat stars but yet the hair, clasp and denticles are quite sharp.
It doesn't appear to be a late die state either.
Maybe I place too much emphasis on star detail.

Lance.
Appears to have a good old soap and water cleaning seeing the dirt clinging to the
devices which shows she wasn't harshly cleaned.
I see her in a 50 slab at our hosts.

45 is the bare minimum on this piece.
