  A number of years ago I had an order for some gold coins that shipped and I didn't see my card get hit until the day it was delivered to me.
  
  
  
  Being in California it always takes about 6 or 7 days to get here so that was quite a delay in billing.

  Yes. I received my March of Dimes sets delivered in hand a few days before it hit my CC.

  The mint sent me an extra coin a few years ago by mistake I sent it back
  It was a gold coin FYI
  Not sure if they would have tracked it down if I didn't call them and let them know

  A number of people a few years ago got a free bus ride and a couple of free meals at the Chicago ANA courtesy of the mint...... in a roundabout sort of way.

  I ordered one of the 5 oz ATB coins years ago, and it was delayed for some reason (which I can't recall) for weeks. After complaining, they finally said it was shipped. Several days later two of them arrived together, and as far as I know I was only charged for one. When I called to let them know, they were in disbelief, but they accepted the return. After the return they sent a notice indicating it had been sent and returned (if I hadn't been honest, I'm not sure if they would have ever caught their error).

  actually YES! when the mint first started selling the walking liberty 1$ silver proofs (1986 i think). I ordered 3 and waited. they never showed up. months went by and I contacted the mint and said there was a problem. they ASSURED me no but that they were sent!. so I waited and they never showed up. again I contacted the mint after a long wait. again they said there was no problem. so I waited. the mint finally told me that they were lost and sent three new ones. right after the new ones arrive, my cousin called me and said that he had a package left at his door that was mine. you guessed it........... I gave my cousin a reward.

  I ordered 25 ProofBoy Scout Dollars for my grandson's troop, but he quit before they arrived, so I never opened the box and put in the closet. A couple years later I decided to sell the 25 coins and opened the box to make sure there wasn't any paperwork in there. I pulled out the 25 and found there were 5 more in the box. At least I was able to break even on what I had paid for the 25 with the lower market.

  I ordered a bunch of something cheap (coin and currency set, I believe) a year or two ago, and there was an extra one in the box. Since it was only like $13, I just kept it.
