Anyone see the report on the Today Show this morning? They tested 5 random Coinstars and 5 random coin counters at TD bank with $300 change. The Coinstars were 5 for 5 in accuracy. TD was 0 for 5 with variances ranging from $.05 to $48.00!!image

    I have heard of coinstar...TD???

I swear that this one coin counter at a credit union that I used to frequent would allow dimes to fall into the cent slot/spot and shortchange me. I put in nothing but dimes and wound up with some odd amount other than an increment of 0.10. The teller informed me that something may have gotten stuck from a previous user and broke free during my transaction. Horse hockey.

Well, if you like paying 11 cents on the dollar, keep using CoinStar. To process $300 you will pay $33 in fees every single time. TD coin counters are free.

    What a tough choice.

I check the reject bin on the Coinstars in this area.... have found a lot of U.S. coins, some European coins... some trash. No collectibles yet... but I keep looking. Cheers, RickO

Are we supposed to know what TD is?

Even though the OP described it as a bank, if you're not close to the Eastern seaboard, you probably aren't familiar with them. They only have about 1200 branches from Maine to Florida. image

I have an account at TDBank and I like to use their "penny arcade" (their name for the coin counters). Customers can use then for free and if/when I search through rolls of pennies I return the searched ones through their "penny arcade".

From my experience, the sorters are accurate and I occasionally find a silver roosie in the return slot...

They aren't free if they can't properly count coins...

Yet these same folks would raise particular hell if a teller gave them back only $267. WTF is wrong with the logic/mentality of some people these days?

I believe TDB charges a percentage to folks who use the change counter but do not bank there.

If you place the funds on a gift card like AMAZON, its free. Providing you can use the credit I think coinstar is great. Id never take the cash redemption with the fee

Do any casinos take coins these days in slots or do they go the insert bills only if so redeem the

change their. Las Vegas went that way along time ago.

Freedom Credit Union in Philadelphia PA has free Coinstar for all.

I don't give em nothing. I roll em and take them to the bank. As far as the pennies, I run them thru the counter in my office and sell them to a guy that buys my wheats so he can look thru em, saves me from having to roll the cents.
