I found it odd that the article discussed a felony violation for having a firearm in the home.

Having a firearm in the home is legal, except in these two cases:

    1) The firearm in question is fully automatic (machine gun) and there is no permit for it.

    2) The owner of the firearm is a convicted felon.

Is Chumlee a convicted felon already ?

They probably charged him with a gun violation, b/c of the drugs involved.

Just like when they confiscate your vehicle.

The Pawn Stars television program is coin-related:

this is a stretch. it might make sense if members were posting about coins and paper money, not the Three Stooges and meth addiction.

The article didn't say anything about hookers, just a search warrant in a sexual assault investigation that he wasn't arrested for. And blow is term for cocaine. They found meth and marijuana. Not that that's a good combo either...

there are people here that get bashed for starting threads that have nothing to do with coins, bashed by many of the same responders here who seem to have no problem with it today, could someone please explain the blatant double standard in here ?

The subject of this thread is the arrest of one Austin Lee Russell, aka "Chumlee" on the popular TV show Pawn Stars, on weapons and drug charges.Mr. Russell was arrested at his home where police found quantities of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana,in addition to at least one weapon.

    A slingshot is a weapon?

Either you have it so this forum absolutely allows NO non-coin-related threads and yes, that would even include, births, birthdays and death notices (of non-numismatic importance) , or you allow the few that we do have on this fine forum and carry on, without the 'bashing'.

    Well put,sir.

this is coin related like it will be coin related when hilliary Clinton gets indicted because after all, she probably carried a coin or two in her pocket.

Yes, having a gun with drugs is never legal, and makes possession of the gun a crime. Even the person could legally own, carry, whatever.

Edited to add, that even if he isn't convicted of the gun crime now, if he is convicted of the felony for any of the other charges, he will lose his 2nd amendment rights. Not sure if this was a state arrest, but it is also possible he could face felony federal charges for possession of a firearm while committing another crime.(drugs or the sexual assault)

Stores that sell coins and the people who work in those shops are always On Topic here IMO.

Heck, didn't a forum member appear on t.v. with these folks?

FWIW my grandson over paid for a Morgan Silver Dollar in the shop we're discussing and he considers it a prized possession.

I do hope everyone can relax a bit and enjoy the forum.

    You get the idea.

Chumlee has attended several coin shows as a star .. and others like Rick, in Fun Show .. it is related to coins >>LOL

I stand corrected. I suppose anything can be considered coin related. so for all those that have had some d-bag tell you your post isn't coin related, simply add irrelevant details to the story until it is, for instance, if you want to start a thread of how you don't like what the wife cooked for dinner, just add that you were watching tv with chumlee being arrested while she was cooking and it becomes coin related

On the drug charges, the meth possession is a bigger deal by far than the marijuana posession.Nevada is next to California. Many, many Californians especially those from LA,do a lot of partying in Las Vegas,do they not?

In Nevada, possession of 1 oz. or less is a misdemeanor until the 4th offense at which time this small possession becomes a felony.Sale or delivery of 100 lbs. or less is a felony in Nevada.

It's interesting that sale to a minor has the same jail time,5 yr (minimum mandatory sentence) to life, as selling or delivering 10,000 lbs. or more.

Possession of more than 1 oz of marijuana then is a felony in Nevada.

Say Chumlee has been caught with 3 oz. of marijuana. He could go to jail since the minimum mandatory sentence is 1 yr. for this outrageous crime against humanity that Chumlee has committed.

Nevada can impose harsh penalties on one for possession of small, personal consumption amounts of marijuana.I hope the Old Man had it in him to bail Chumlee out of jail.

Guns ARE legal in Las Vegas. They do NOT need to be reported to the authorities. NO permit is needed unless you want to conceal (we are an open carry state).

Chum could not have a gun do to a prior conviction is my understanding. Whether or not it was a felony I do not know.

Your absolutely right. It was the penny lady, Charmy. She was a superstar on that show too.
