Broadstruck's "childhood communion coins" are quite impressive- such a young start as a numismatist- and multiple gold coins before the age of ten! Wow.
(I started at age ten, myself, but didn't get my first gold coin- a "1915" Austrian ducat restrike- until about age 15.)
I don't generally like the look of gold, as it is such a soft metal and is prone to hits, marks, and a look that I usually put about 3-4 grades below where it actually grades. That being said, I purchased my first gold "coin" in 2015 (and only gold I have ever owned). Quite simply, I just caved when I found one of these Austrian restrikes in gold that wasn't priced to the moon. It matches my MS68 example in silver pretty well.

EVillageProwler, That's a beautiful piece could I ask what the overall diameter is?
Sorry, but the coin is in SDB and not convenient to where I live. It's size is, however, seemingly similar in size to other gold ducat pieces from that era.
@Nap - I've been eying tremisses (sp?) pieces lately, but decided to refrain myself. But, they seem not too expensive and often come looking quite nice. And those of the European Dark Ages sure come with a lot of history!
