    I have been looking for a doily for some time now and I have noticed that a lot of them are damaged in some way, mainly cracked. And those that are not, the present possessor are very proud of them, meaning that they want quite a bit more than trends.

    You will have to look quite awhile and get lucky to find one without a premium (frequently $50-$100)

    You can add this to the doily census.
    1964 prf67 halve. Cert number is 6800.67/8201077.

    Doily Enthusiasts . . . . .

    I have received word from Billet7 that he would be unable to update or monitor the Census for the foreseeable future. First of all, I'd like to thank Simon for the Herculean effort he has expended for the last few years in transitioning this post from some random thoughts into an organized and very well-used resource for all of us who look at the Doilies as a fun little subset of the hobby.

    He has asked if I wanted to take over the Census, and frankly, I am swamped, but not entirely opposed. I also realize that Lakesammman, Oreville, and perhaps a few others have extensive and superior slab knowledge and might want to do this. I specialize in the Doily, and am really only interested in the DOILY Census, so if that is something the others want me to do, I will check on how to reorient this thread to my direction, if that is the desire of the Doily community.

    I do teach English, write extensively, and edit numismatic publications, so this is not something I would be unable to do . . .

    If not, I am entirely happy with whatever the Doily community desires . . . . . including fading into the background and keeping my mouth and keyboard shut.

    I will leave this post up, and put a post on the main Forum on 3/28/15 to alert the Doily community.

    PM me or give me your thoughts. I appreciate all of you who do a real service to those of us who enjoy the plastic side of the hobby . .

    Besides, I am terrible in this computer stuff!

    How can I be so terrible at this when I am the only person on the planet to go to the same university with Craig Newmark for six years, attend many of the same classes, learned Fortrun and Cobol (sic?) on the old 1971 Univac computers and did not remember much of what I learned?

    Edited, Fortran? I can't remember how to spell these old languages!

    Can't find the original thread by a dealer re: Sample doily with RUFFCO sticker - must have gone poof.

    Brought $249 yesterday on ebay - primarily for the date, 1958-D - not the sticker (IMO).

    It is the same old thread. Looks like the last edit date in the 1st post apparently disappeared with the software changeover. Never noticed that before.



    So any not in the census on the 1st post could have been listed among the many post made after the last update (which I have no idea when it was - maybe someone else can recall).



    May take a lot of work for someone to update and make sure that all posted here appear in one census.

    it was my goal to link all the images with the certs, or at least the majority of them including a new, more organized arrangement of the certs. coulda knocked it out inside a week, easily.



    waiting on other people to step up to the plate has proven most futile and i mean epically.



    good thing i have something of most importance to work on (that is all on me and my efforts) in lieu of these wasteful and selfish endeavors. (my archiving projects, even though they are done for others)

    My thought if it was on a site like Pinterest, then everyone could contribute as they saw fit, and it reduces the work on any given individual to make it all happen.

    that is the method i prefer anyhow. viewing 300 images over 75-125 pages is like nails on a chalkboard to me. the inefficiency is blood-churning.

    I just purchased a 1947 D walker in a doily holder and was wondering if it is the one you had long ago. I ask because the s/n (9142458) does not match PCGS's data base! The current Census here does not list it either but does have thebigeng as one.
