I wonder how diligently he's working to recover the coin, considering he doesn't have any meat in the game. Minus his reputation. Sounds like he's already held in ill repute.
Fred, you may want to contact Mike DelGreco in Massachusetts. Mike is somewhat of a powerbroker in the immediate area amongst coin dealers. He may have some direct leverage with this chump. I believe he is on CCE.
That's a plus. Even better if the business name (C&J) comes up with "rip off dealer" on page 1 of Google. I just tried that after Fred's title change and it's nowhere to be seen on the first 4 pages. Apparently, Google bypasses the business name and address, and starts the search with "Rip off dealer in Mass. "Chip" Southwick." That could apply to any type of dealer, cars, antiques, etc. Don't know enough about the search engine selection to those who might only search by their business name.
Fred is a pretty big fish to burn bridges with. I wonder if this guy ever browses eBay and is like: "Ooh, I should try and steal that off-center peace dolla-- aw, damn it, Fred is selling it. I already ripped that guy off once."
