They have been doing this for years .I own a 1953 dime missing its silver plateing over a copper/silver alloy or technically a black bronze core.It was dicovered by metal detector where a boardwalk used to be after tropical storm Sandy.I believe the sal*****er and sand removed the silverplate.It also has little flecks of green tarnish in the reeding indicating copper.The strike is good but it looks really strange and its fun to stump others with.

Copper prices are also down over the last 5 years as well.
It sounds like the opening of the article was written 5 years ago but just published this month.
So strange and it seems ignorant quite frankly....talking about the last decade but then
ignoring the last HALF DECADE.
Something worth doing is getting rid of the dollar bill and replacing it with the dollar coin so
as to save money and actually put into circulation all of the dollar coins produced but then
placed in storage. Not only would be not need to produce $1 coins for a while but we could
stop paying/using storage.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
