Was at my bank today and, as luck would have it, I got my favorite teller, who knows Icollect clad coin, particularly dimes.
She had just rec'd a few roll of "new" dimes and would I want one. I did and when I got home I discovered a mint fresh roll of 2015P beauties.
I just love the cartwheel effect on these things.

    I do like the luster on freshly struck pieces. However drag your finger across the coin and feel how low the relief is compared to the original designs. I know the dies last much much longer because of it, but it makes the coins less enjoyable to me.

    Of all the clad denominations, I've always thought the dimes were struck the best.
    The relief on the coins is very good, especially for a clad coin.

    To me, every coin is a work of art made by master craftsmen. Even the green ones I find under my washing machine.

    High relief is part of the reason I'm into coins such as the Mercury 10c, Walking Liberty 50c, and my favorite with the highest relief of all (other than gold) the Buffalo 5c. Of all the modern stuff I think the Sac $1 is the best in that regard, at least the obv.

    I received a 2015 Dime in change yesterday that was absolutely crushed. Deeeeep sidewalls on the rims, the sharpest details that you could want, blinding lusterbomb, markless fields, not a spot on it.............but a teeny tiny scratch on the neck. DOH!!!!

    Yes it is. I've been going to that branch for over a decade and that teller is very sweet.
    She collects little Disney figurines and has her teller station loaded with them. When I spot one in Dollar Tree, I get it for her.
    In addition to being on the lookout for new rolls of dimes & quarters, she saves all her foreign coins for me.

    One of my favorite tellers called last week to tell me that she was holding some dollar and half dollar coins for me. In addition to the dollars, there were 19 rolls of halves. I have gone through a few rolls and have found four 40% silver and one 1971 that appears to be a proof. Time to take some more chocolate to my tellers!

    Yeah. I dare you guys to Actually submit one of these awesome new dimes for grading. I'll bet my first born daughter it Will Not Be Graded Correctly. Your MS68+ will come back as a 64 and you will be $$ poorer and totally confused.

    I rarely seem to be able to find new dimes at my banks.



    I wonder if this area (Chicago Federal Reserve District) tends to export dimes for some reason. We get lots of new quarters and cents though.
    tempus fugit extra philosophiam.
