What a tremendous loss to numismatics! Tom was a great guy and a wonderful ambassador for ancient numismatics.
Yes, this is the US Coin forum ... but all Tom was a roll model for professional numismatists in every field of collecting.
"Cederlind, Thomas 56 Aug. 09, 1959 Dec. 16, 2015 Thomas Bentley Cederlind passed away Dec. 16, 2015, in Portland. He was a highly renowned numismatist and historical scholar, focusing on ancient Greek and Roman history and artifacts. As such, he traveled extensively throughout Europe and the U.S. Born and raised in Bellingham, Wash., Tom subsequently moved to Portland and attended Lewis & Clark College, ultimately graduating magna cum laude from Pomona College in Pomona, Calif. in 1986. The youngest of four brothers, Tom's passing was a major and unexpected loss. His surviving family includes his son, Leif Spenser Broncova Cederlind; and brothers, Jim and Gary. Tom is in our prayers and remains in our hearts. The loss of our loving brother will be felt for a long time to come."
I wish all his family and friends peace as they cope with their tragic loss.

Practice makes perfect & nobody is perfect. So, practice being nobody.
So sorry to hear and my condolences to his family.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
He sold me my first expensive Anglo-Saxon coin.

I didn't know him or do business with him, but I almost bought a coin from him, once. Had it in my VCoins watchlist for a long time, then when I wanted to buy it, somebody had beaten me to it. I did enjoy browsing his inventory, and it was plain to see he was an important name in ancient numismatics.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Bought this 4th century Axum from TC in 2006.
RIP
Condolences to the family... RickO
Actually I bought this piece at a Tom Cederlind auction.

Egypt, Ptolemy II bronze (r. 283-246 BC) 47 mm diam, 98.1 grams Tom Cederlin auction, 22 May, 2014, lot# 111While large Egyptian bronzes are not rare, ones of this size (98.1 grams) are. Also Tom really would talk to me about coins. Very few dealers do that as they don't want to waste the time on smaller collectors.
He spent his time in purgatory and was time for him to go home to the land of
paradise. RIP.
