2016 ASE -- in January!

COCollectorCOCollector Posts: 1,430 ✭✭✭✭✭

The USMint website says 2016 American Silver Eagles "will be available for sale in December 2016."

But both APMEX and BullionExchanges are accepting pre-sale orders now.

I spoke with BE -- they definitely expect to ship this month. Slabbed coins by the 1st week in February at the latest.

Question is, why the misleading delivery estimate from the Mint?

I expect that the US Mint may be referring to the "collector" versions while APMex and BullionExchange are referring to the "bullion" versions which are always available come January 2nd to the Authorized Purchasers.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    This.

The ASE's offered by the bullion dealers are the reeded bullion version this year. They will be available later this month.

Those offered on the mint site are proof and uncirculated versions. They are still testing (afaik) the edge lettering machinery, which the mint stated could take months.

There's nothing misleading here at all...

Correct....different coins completely but December IS kinda far out there. I thought it was June as a planned release date because of the new edging.

December seems very late....a call to the mint might be enlightening...Cheers, RickO

I suspect it is like their backorder dates. If they're not sure, they tend to waaaay overestimate the time frame.

I would be surprised if the 30th anniv coins aren't out by April or May. These will probably be big sellers.

BTW, still haven't seen any RP or EU ASE legislation yet...

Coin Vault is already selling a red white blue label first day of issue 2016 ASE -3 different label colors. They say you need all three coins to complete the set. Ridiculous.

Probably a combination of both bad web data on the US Mint site and a confusion with bullion coins.

Label collecting isn't something I've thought of before image
