For current numismatic books, I like Wizard Coin Supply (offers a discount to ANA Members) or Brooklyn Gallery.

For older numismatic books, I like auctioneers Kolbe & Fanning and David Sklow. Charlie Davis sells older numismatic books and also has auctions from time to time.

For auction catalogs and older numismatic books try Bryce Brown (posts here as PreTurb) at brycebooks.squarespace.com

Does anyone know if Karl Moulton still sells auction catalogs, etc.? His website (coincats.com) seems to be down.

Try addall.com as another general source, if you know the title, author, or keywords. It's not the type of site for casual browsing.

Another source is vcoins. There are a few numismatic literature dealers there as well.

And ... Charlie Davis is a GREAT guy.

Charles Davis Numismatic Books is perhaps the best numismatic book dealer in the business. He maintains a large stock of hard to find and out of print books, he has a mind like a steel trap, with extensive knowledge of all areas of numismatic literature, and whatever he doesn't happen to have in present stock he will locate for you. He also sets up at most major national coin shows. I have done business with Charlie for many years, and he has helped me to assemble a comprehensive numismatic library, including many important auction catalogs dating back to the Civil War. There are several quality numismatic book dealers, but I can strongly recommend Charlie Davis as one who will work to assist you in your bibliographic pursuits. He will work your want list, and never forgets what you tell him you are looking for.

If you have a halfprice books go check them out. Also Wexlers site is good if you go to the for sale section. On top of that some of the members here have some good books out especially dealing with buffalo nickels. Get the new CPG.

Karl Moulton retired several years ago, and his stock was sold off not long thereafter. David Sklow conducted his last auction late last year; he is now the manager of the ANA's library.

Karl retired a while ago, David Sklow sold off his stock in 3 sales.

Also, Orville Grady retired. David Sklow sold off his stock in a few sales too.

David Sklow has also retired - he took a position as ANA Librarian.

Bryce (PreTurb) will be holding a few auctions in 2016. His website has information on that.

I will give Charlie another plug too. A great guy, great selection and knows the material well. He actually wrote the book on it.

Kolbe & Fanning handle everything from the uber-rare to $15 common books and their website has books for sale in addition to their auctions.

If you are new to the hobby, I would also make an effort to get the course books for the main ANA courses (grading I & II, counterfeit/altered coin detection, intro to numismatics, modern minting process, errors & varieties) and associated DVDs. These books occasionally appear for sale via amazon.com, Abe books, etc. Numismatic DVDs can be purchased from (coinvideo.com)--some of his titles are interesting.

There's also Fred Lake of Lake Books (www.lakebooks.com), who conducts numismatic book auctions.

(Hopefully he hasn't retired, too.)
