Holiday guess the grade contest - win a couple of 8 Reales!

I admired this coin when I first saw it listed on SixBid, but wasn't planning to bid. Logged into Bolaffi's live auction just as this lot came up and took it as a sign... (obviously

)

Once I receive it, off to PCGS it goes!

In the meantime, let's play "Guess the Grade"

Winner will receive two 8 Reales coins from my miscellaneous drawer. Granted, both will be raw and with problems (hairlines, corrosion, AT, etc...), but still two nice chunks of silver. I'll post the photos of the prize this weekend.

In case of a tie, I will use a random number generator and the person with the lowest generated random number will be the winner!

Nice coin! Yes, fate spoke to you and you responded.

My first thought was 62+, so I'll stick with that. Could 63 though, but hard to tell from the small photo.

Not well centered, so that will probably keep it out of 64 territory.

That's a tough coin to grade from a picture! I would personally probably grade it as a 58 from that picture. To keep things more interesting my official entry is MS63+!

Good range! Anywhere from 55 to 64

I've updated the OP with photos of the two 8 Reales coins you will win. One is a nice 1808 with some minor corrosion on the obverse. And the other one is the 1842 Zacatecas 8 Reales (Type II die, style of 1843) that has been cleaned sometime ago.

My guess is au-58. It is well struck. Looked hard to find some wear, didn't see much but it has that slider kind of look. Nice pick up.

With my track record this might be the winning guess

Bolaffi is not the best at communicating, it seems. I confirmed that I was the winning bidder on the lot and that they had my payment information, but they haven't charge my card yet, nor did they ship the coin, it seems. Hopefully soon!

To make sure this is still a holiday timeframe, I might have to send this one in as Express Service to our host.

I haven't got an invoice for my lot yet! Last time I bought from them the export permit took 3 months. Not a huge fan of Bolaffi.

....and I have still not gotten my invoice and have emailed them without response. I've bought from them in the past and was bidding live in the online session so I'm fairly certain I won. Who knows, these guys are pretty lazy when it comes to administration.

Hope your experience differs. My second transaction with them was smooth, first dealings I waited 5 months for the coin.
