Houston Money Show Report

First a big thank you to the dozens of members of the Houston Coin Club who went out of their way to make a guy from up North feel welcome. Folks like Jerry who scrounged a extra extionsion cord or Jay who stopped bye to see if I needed anything to all the other behind the scenes folks who spend hundreds of hours getting the show ready

So a little background. It's always a bit of drama to get to Houston for me as I fly from a regional airport. This trip was no exception fog in NY delayed me an hour so I missed my coonecting flight by 4 minutes causing the detouring to another airport and arriving in Texas well past midnight on Wed

No worries game on and after a rest I prepared to set up ang move forward with a positive attitude

Had the pleasure to need old customers whom have bought from me over the years. New faces and several board members that's board members not bored members

Sales for me are different than typical dealers as I am not traveling with stacks of raw Morgan's to display in buckets. Yes if you have never been to Texas it's hard to imagine but the dealers literal just lay out hundreds of silver dollars for you to pick thru. Fun. It sure is now interestingly enough during the show we had a nice metal spike and that usually puts dealers in a good mood. Maybe not me because I had planned to buy a bunch of silver for some customers and did get the chance on Thur so had to pay more on Fri. Me bad. But guess it was for good reason as I was extremely busy on Thursday at my table. Sold some nice coins but more important was able to pick up some really cool coins. Added to my site in a day or so.

Finally got a chance to wonder around town enjoying not only a good old Texas barbaque but some other local favorites

All in all a very smoothly run show and while delta managed to again mess with me on my return flight. Canceling my evening flight and then booking me into an afternoon flight this causing me to have to leave the show early

What can I say I hate leaving more than you know especially when I had 1 fellow at my table offering me gold coins and another walk in asking for pricing of a book of raw large cents. Oh well sure some other dealer scooped up those deals. Traffic seemed a t ad light to me but that could be because the center is quite large. He layout this year was improved and I had a few minutes to enjoy some splendid exhibits including an Hawaii Lunch exhibit and a Boeing employee token exhibit to name a few

Well time to board the plane. Parsipany show sun morning or maybe stop bye my table at fun in Tampa. Safe travels ye all
