First Time I've Noticed this Scam on Ebay

Despite the completely mislabeled auction, look at the $2.80 BIN price plus $3,500 shipping cost. Of course any buyer, upon receiving the invoice, wouldn't pay. But would the buyer get dinged for an unpaid auction?

$2.80 + $3,500 Shipping

Not sure you could call it a scam. If I'm buying a coin, I would expect to pay the advertised shipping cost. Anyway, it could be a simple typing error.

I say it's a scam because I'm thinking the seller is assuming the buyer will bid without paying attention to the shipping cost.

The nice part is, he already cracked it out of the PCGS MS-66+ holder and it's ready for you to send it in for the upgrade to MS-67. So the extra cost in the shipping is probably the "handling" part.

This had been a long-standing strategy for fee avoidance. However, I don't know if ebay has started to calculate their seller's fees with shipping, as opposed to the old practice of ignoring shipping.

eBay/PayPal charges fees on shipping these days. They did not used to a long time ago.

I would call $2.80 for that coin a scam if the shipping cost was .49.

It feels more like a prank than a scam. Even if you stupidly paid, I'd hope ebay would allow you to reverse the transaction.

Not surprisingly, that Seller has zero sales. And no other items.

Yep, because of these wonderful people using high shipping charges to avoid fees, now ebay charges fees on total sale including shipping. Just not on sales tax. That will probably start soon when people start using sales tax for bonus sales prices.
