Hopefully he is not going to try and scam the seller. If he took the time to open the claim less then 24 hours after payment something seems real fishy about whats going on. Keep us updated if you can on what the final outcome is.

People these days just love to get stuff for free at the expense of sellers via chargebacks and such.

If the seller points out the Paypal transaction ID for the payment to a Paypal CS rep., they will probably have a good chuckle over the claim.

Is it possible this buyer has made multiple purchases and is confusing two purchases thinking that he made payment several days earlier than he actually did?

This happens pretty regularly on Ebay. Buyer wins the item, forgets to pay for a week, then finally pays. The buyer then looks a few days later at their buying history and wonders why they haven't received their item that they bought "a week and a half ago".

How likely will eBay remove the neg if you contact them and let them know how ridiculous the buyer is being?

If you're willing to spend 30-60 minutes on the phone, explaining it calmly and rationally to 3-4 different representatives, usually that is enough to finally get it removed.

Not what folks want to hear but it never stops me. I hear "moron" tossed around here more lately talking about buyers on a so-called collectors board.

Something just hit me..... I often wonder who is the "moron" the buyer, or the folks that continue to do business with them. image And write about it here.
