USPS Tracking "Processing Exception"

Saw this pop up in my tracking for the first time ever and had not seen it before. Anybody else? I suppose it is explains why a package might get stuck in one place for a while.

Anyway, I had read after doing some searches about it that someone said to go to usps.com and request email tracking updates, and it usually gets it prodded into action. I did this yesterday. Voila! After not changing for 5 days the package had arrived at the regional sort facility in Portland. There is obviously a chance that it is pure coincidence, but I will certainly try it next time.

Here is the coin I'm waiting on, not a rare date by any means but it sure looks nice from the seller's photos, well it will look a lot better after an acetone bath.

I've seen that message on a misrouted package that I got a day late.

The month of December is always bizarre with the USPS...it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Yeah, I suppose so. The last time I was collecting coins I don't think there were live tracking updates, so I didn't get to obsess about them like I do now.

It means, they haven't lost it - they just don't know where it is

If the shipper used an online generated shipping label (eBay / Paypal) and they placed clear packing tape over the bar code, the glare can defeat the automated scanning equipment at a distribution center. Been there, done that. It usually gets remedied by a manual scan by a Postal clerk.
