New 1840 Half Eagle to Share
This 1840 Half Eagle just arrived today from DWN. It's in a PCGS AU55 holder. It's got nice even original color on both sides and I think is pretty choice for the grade...it's got a couple of digs on liberty's cheek that are definitely there but seem to be magnified in the picture and don't stand out in hand. It's also got a cool die crack on the reverse from about 4:00 through the arrow heads and into the shield that is plainly visible with the naked eye. 1840 Half Eagles actually have 2 minor varieties (not recognized by PCGS, but recognized by NGC I believe)...Broad Mill and Narrow Mill referring to the diameter of the border around the coin. This is the common Narrow Mill variety. Just wanted to share!

also, i would like to point out that the strike is very hammered on this piece.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
