Not my next purchase, but virtually any early (pre-Classic Head) gold piece would be fantastic.

I wouldn't mind a small-eagle half or a high-relief Saint either......... wait, how do we enter the giveaway??

Draped bust, small eagle dollar is most likely, though I still need many of the usual tough pre-1800 types.

The 1793 copper and most of the earliest US gold is going to have to wait till my ship comes in.

    There are a lot:

Barber half, Capped Bust Half, Seated Half, Seated Dollar & Standing Liberty Quarter (all MS).

I used to own all of these but sold them.

They all were raw but for the SLQ.

That's on my short list as well. I took some great shots of coins at the Numismatic Muesum in Athens. I will have to dig those up.

    What's that saying again?

Bidask. I just spent an hour looking at the Atlas site ( I'm in the air) and that caught my eye as well. What a site

I'm down to 15 or 20 coins to "finish" my type set. As you can imagine, most of those left are listed in my "handy dandy, pocket sized, price reference" as "TDE"...."Too Dang Expensive". In other words, I may never own them.

But, there is one totally affordable, readily available, type coin I've been looking for forever. 1917 Type 1 SLQ.

My problem is that I love the design so much that I really want a GOOD one. And my budget says, "MS-63".

So, basically, I'm looking for the perfect coin in an MS-63 holder. Oddly, perfect coins don't come in MS-63 holders. image

Someday, I'll find the one that will fill the slot, and keep me happy.

I've had them before, but am currently without a Draped Bust (H.E.) half dollar.

I might add a nice VF-ish piece with "CircCam" contrast when the opportunity presents itself.

I'm always looking for a large cent in 65 that's in a date that isn't too common but not an arm and a leg. So something in the 1830-1840s. Right now I have a 1855 flyer pattern in 64 that I consider my large cent, but I really would like a copper with Liberty on it. Just waiting for the right look for the right price.

My choice is between two coins, a VF to XF Seated Liberty Dollar or another Twenty Cent Piece to replace the beautiful ones I had to sell. Which ever I can find first, at the price I can afford will be added then the other.

Since my U.S. type set is complete, the top coin on my list is a portrait coin of Queen Mary I of England. (a.k.a. "Bloody Many) That would have my complete from the current queen, Elizabeth II, to Richard III, which also hard to find. Beyond that I'm looking at some early hammered English coins that tend to be very ugly. (e.g. Henry I and Stephen)
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

No time soon because it won't be cheap, but someday I would love to add an 1860 Clark Gruber $10.

Definitely a Chain cent. My favorite copper dealer had a nice Fine 15 (my grade -- he was a bit more optimistic) that I wanted

to buy for a year, but I kept finding other uses for the money. Last week it went away. So sad!

Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle $10. Scot really nailed the "emblematic of Liberty" design. Both obverse and reverse are beautifully engraved, the reverse shares hubs with the half dollars.

A high-relief $20, a nice AU will do or even a nice looking EF.

If I ever start a silver dollar type set I'd like a flowing hair 1795 to replace the one I sold years ago. :'(
