Some nasty head hits there and certainly what looks to be cabinet rub on the neck.

It would not be a coin for me.

Not a fan of the coin, those marks across the head look alot like they could have come from a coin counting machine. That plus the black spots would be tough to get past.

Assuming the luster is much better than the images suggest, I would not have an issue with MS64 here.

Looks to be original skin and mint frost, so maybe that gave it a bump?
Those marks though are killers - I wouldn't call it a 64 if I owned it, and
I wouldn't pay 64 money for it, either. I'm betting someone somewhere was pretty
happy when that came back with that grade.

Those gashes across the head look like post mint damage to me.

Some marks in the fields, as well.

It got the bump, b/c it is the key to the series IMO.

Looks MS details or 'genuine' to me.

Is the strike "razor sharp" as the description indicates? (I'm not a washington collector, and I don't know which dates/mints have better/worse strikes to be able to compare).

I would have said 63..... but of course, in hand, it may be different...though those

marks sure look to limit the grade. Cheers, RickO

The luster, strike, originality, freshness, lack of the typical rub if considered separately could qualify that for a MS65 grade. While I probably wouldn't be a buyer at a 64 grade I could see how it was netted to a 64 rather than a 63. Most 1932-D Washington's up to 64 grade seem to be quite lacking in luster, strike, eye appeal and often even minor rub. At least this one has some strong features outside those head hits. One of the most abused, key-date coins out there.

If those same marks were scattered around the coin I think there would be a lot less debate over a 64 grade. Those marks would really stand out if placed on the face, neck, obv fields or eagle and the grade would plummet. The coin when viewed in Heritage's huge blow up photographs magnifies those hits. In a non-magnified state the coin looks "clean." With that coin viewed at 1X to 2X those four obv hits nearly blend away into the hair detail. My eyes don't see them. Good thing US quarters aren't a foot wide or no one would collect them. If I had submitted this coin for grading I'd get a 62/63 grade.

Someone didn't get enough sleep when they graded this one. Opening bid $15 and I would take it at that but bidding will go higher but not for 64. I would say maybe MS62 if I was bidding.
