Some of my new pickups from the NH Coin Expo today

I spent a total of about 3hrs at the show today, and it was really towards the end when I finally found some fresh/raw coins that caught my eye. They are very pretty in hand, I tried to capture their in-hand look as best I possibly could.



Then spent some time with our very own Dave W and picked up a very cool looking token. Images below for your viewing pleasure...



P.S. I also picked up a very cool medal, but don't laugh, I can't fit it into my Macro lens window (it's like 1/16th of an inch too big). Need to change lenses and will image later.

    I love the 1881 dollars. Great two-sided color on a better date. The second one looks high grade. I would definitely send that one in!

    I had a beautiful fully struck NGC MS64 on consignment once I wish I would have personally purchased. I was more focused then and couldn't figure out how it would fit my collection? Being loose and buying whatever floats your boat sure has it's perks at times.

    Thank you all for looking at this thread, and your feedback.



    The dollars are probably fraternal twins. The dealer I bought them from had 4 total (the ones I bought plus two 1882's that were also pretty but both had fingerprints on the obverse, which just didn't do it for me). He said he got them from the same person/lot he bought.



    The token was a "must have" purchase from Dave Wnuck -- as soon as I saw it, I knew it had a home in my Numismatic Curiosities set, a set I've been working on quietly for the past several years with my son.



    On my way out I shared my new purchases with a few people (dealers that I know, mainly, a few of which post here); they also said to send in the 1881 dollars; they might be a decent little score -- especially on one of them, which has a cleaner cheek (you can surmise which one from the photos).



    I have to figure out what to do about the medal I bought -- it might be time for me to buy a 100mm macro lens because I cannot get my camera with a Sigma 180mm macro lens high enough on my copy stand to fit the whole medal. It's about 1/16" off/doesn't totally fit into the frame. I know it's a "first world problem" to have, but it is really annoying and I don't want to use a generic 50mm lens to image the beautiful medal as it won't do it justice.

    If you don't mind working with a manual lens the old 105mm Micro Nikkors are great and real cheap now.



    I don't usually get too excited over toned Morgans but I really, really like those. Nice finds.

    I'm typically not a huge fan of Morgan or Peace dollars, but I will make an exception in this case--they all look nice. But the token is uber cool! I like your picture of it more than the PCGS picture. But in either case, the headless bird is remarkable!

    Rick, it's minted condition for sure. This one is also gilded while I saw another one from a different set of dies that was more fully struck and at the same grade, but it was less interesting as it wasn't gilded and much darker.

    To update this thread, the coins graded MS63, MS64 (stingy on this one), and AU58 respectively (WTF??? on the Peace Dollar). Sent all to CAC and all stickered.



    I will crack out and resubmit the Peace...it's easily a 63, with booming cartwheel luster.



    I had these graded el cheapo economy, maybe by sending in the Peace $1 via regular grading services on my next submission will change the results? I suspect it might. Or I might just crack it and put it into my book ...



    Anyhow, just wanted to close the loop on these/update the thread....

    Ya done good. Very attractive coins. I think the 1881 Morgans look quite nice
