Could this delivery be a record (in a bad way)?
I bought a coin from Mike Printz at Harlan Berk on the afternoon of Thursday, 10/29.
He mailed it in Chicago via Priority Mail the next day, 10/30. (I tracked it.)
It arrived in Alabama TODAY! 7 days for Priority!
Was there a Postal Strike?
Did the USPS driver take a short vacation?
Our Postal Service leaves a lot to be desired.
Oh, how I love government services. Ridiculous!
Anybody else have similiar experience?
On a better note, I love the coin in hand by the way!

Have had Priority Mail take anywhere from two to five days to arrive from Chicago here in the Northeast.
Roll of the dice for arrival
I learned today that the little hand held scanner the delivery man has also has a GPS unit in it. They can tell if he/she was at your door when he scanned your package or if he/she was 3 blocks away at the time.
Best, SH
I even had to close an online bank acct because the PO is taking over a week to deliver checks.
Got REAL close to a BIG problem on an escrow for the house I just bought.

that I am just not in that big of a hurry. If it was a birthday gift or something similar, that would be different, but otherwise, what
is the rush?
Eventually I filed a complaint, which I hated doing, but the situation was absurd (and risky). I got a letter from the postmaster a few days later. Problem fixed.

This reminds me of the "I always pick the slowest grocery store check out lane" syndrome. Actually you don't. The frustration triggers a memory moment.
How about all the times PM came as expected or sometimes faster then expected? In and out at the grocery store, or expected PM, just doesn't register as memorable.
are going to our host from East TN.

So what was the coin?
An 1818 Bust half in AU50 CAC with great original luster and some rim color. Thanks Mike!
I have tried to post a photo but couldn't.
I can't stop looking at this coin!
On the other side of the fence a few years ago I bought some coins off of the BST from a member in San Francisco and they showed up at my house in central Texas the next day. And just regular mail too, no express or anything. Guess they must have gotten on the right flight etc.

I've sent a Priority Mail box to the Seattle area around this time of the year. The item didn't arrive until the next year.
It isn't unusual for registered priority mail items to take two weeks to get to me from PCGS (380 miles).

Those go by truck and can sit for days at stops between destinations.
That's why USPS makes you wait 3 weeks before filing an insurance claim because it may be sitting somewhere waiting to move to the next stop in the chain.
The only thing is, I can't get a check from here to Dallas (100 miles) for under 50 cents so I will have to stick with them.
I just got a check today that was mailed on Sept 18...
