1941-D Toned Roll

I picked up a toned BU Roll of 1941-D Cents a while back and just got around to looking at it. Turns out the entire roll is beautifully toned. There is a range of color and level of toning through the roll. The roll was tubed when I bought it, and it appears that two coins were replaced as they don't match the rest for toning. At least one of the roll end coins is still here, and it is nearly solid black on one side. Opinions welcome! I may take the time to image all 48 of the toned coins.

Lance.
I lucked into a similar mixed date roll a while back, with several nice 1942 and 1944 toners. The 1942 coins were kinda-sorta like that.
That is one gorgeous 41-D
Is that a die break or a fiber between E T obverse

very attractive example and would be one heck of a type set coin.
I love it. Please post some others

That's actually a small die scratch or gouge.
I'm really curious what I will find in this roll. I literally just picked up the first coin (after the roll end coin) and photographed it...

If you have one that's particularly dramatic looking prepare yourself for an offer!
I have owned a couple rolls which were entirely toned. The first was a 40S roll I found in the late 80's. Every coin two sided target toning more or less like this. Several others since then. The coins in most of these rolls to my recollection felt tacky on the rims. I felt attic heat was involved in the toning process on all of them but was never able to verify or figure out what the tackiness was from.

You have yourself a 66RB. Let's see those end toners!
Here are the roll end coins:
Edited to add: Seems I've found a forum bug. The text and images above are posted correctly, but for some reason when I reply by Quote it messes up the carriage returns. Who do I report this to?

Editted to add: From the pics you posted most seem to be solid 65RB to possible 66RB; I do not see enough luster in most of the pics to go higher.

A few more coins to image and then I'll decide what I will keep and what I will sell...
Looks like I found another bug in the forum software. Two so far just in this thread. Both relate to the software ignoring Carriage Returns in replies. Hope someone is looking as I don't know where to report these bugs...

Hoard the keys.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
Very nice are you going to grade any of them?
No, that's not my thing. Plus, they're going like hotcakes, so the new owners can send them in.

I took some images of one of the 41-D coins I kept with a new lens and lighting system. In one image, I took the shot straight-on with fairly direct but no-reflective lighting. The other, I inclined the coin 5-deg using a goniometer, and the camera 5-deg using a tilt adapter. Here is an animation going from the straight-on shot to the tilted shot and back. The straight-on shot is less diffuse than my original shots, which had a lot of diffusion. The tilted shot it "pseudo-axial", ie the lights shine directly off the coin surface and toward the lens.
Comments welcome!
First.....my new revolving tree......now this. I know, don't stare at either too long or the walls start moving.
But nice find!
