Peace dollar doubling...

Can anyone tell me if doubling of the 28 on the 1928-S is common or is it an 8/3 any help.............

The 8 in 1928 is doubled.But it looks like it could be a 8 over 3. Just want to know if there are more out there with partial date doubling......I don't think it is machine doubling.

Mechanical doubling is not uncommon in the series. Never heard of a 8/3 and doubt such exists.

I suspect you have a 1928-S Vam 3, which has
shelf doubling on the date & the right side of
the 8 appears to resemble a 3.

There is also doubling on the motto ,,,OD WE & TRUST
and at the designer's initials and at some of the right side
of the rays in the tiara.

To my knowledge there is no 8 over 3 variety for this date.

Many different 1928-S dies have legitimate doubling on the obverse. It's most observable on the "AF" monogram and TRVST. Strike doubling is also common, unfortunately.

No such thing as an 8/3.

THis. You can clearly see the doubling on the V of TRVST.
