If you go to the teller window of most banks they have a little ink pad. You need to give them a thumbprint if you aren't a bank customer and want to cash a check, even if it's drawn on their bank.

I might have an issue with someone expecting that I should pay for shipping just because THEY don't want to pay with anything but a check. If you ordered it from me online you'd be waiting for check clearance and paying shipping anyway... so how is this really any different, except that in this case you also had the privilege of seeing the items beforehand?

LOL! I have never done this but was curious what people's reaction would be. I would not have a problem for this reason but usually don't have any problems coming up with enough refernces!
Would you allow a dealer you have never done business with to take your picture if you wanted to write a check?
That is rather extreme, don't you think? At shows, I have never asked to take a photo of a customer wanting to pay with a check. They only thing I require from new customers asking to pay with a check is that they provide a urine or blood sample on the spot. Occasionally someone will object, but then I just swipe their credit card and we are good to go without the bodily fluids or photographs of any sort.
The short answer is no, but take a pic of my drivers liscense if it makes you feel good. Might not work out though. I took a pic of my dads credit card to order some flowers for a funeral. When I went thru my pics to give out the number it was scrambled. It must have been one of those smart credit cards lol.
The older I get the less tolerant I get. I deal in cash or credit card 99.9 percent of the time. If I was to write a check the bank might not honor it as I doubt I have written a check in 10 years. It would probably freak them out.
I would not accept a check from 99.9 percent of the people anyway, pic or no pic.
