2015 John F Kennedy Coin & Chronicles Set Pre Sales on eBay

Looks like they're going for around $150

Will the demand still be there when the supply arrives?

Comments

  • Good question. Kind of strange, but the TV buyers hit the Trumans hard after they went on sale.

With the Ike sales, they (the TV hucksters) hit the presales very hard and seemed to buy up all they wanted with presale purchases at high prices.

I found that puzzling, but I guess that's why I'm not on TV...image

If the demand is there it wont be very long. J ust too many of them to sustain any high prices.
  • there are usually 2 events people remember exactly where they were, when they first heard Kennedy was shot and 911. Who remembers anything about Truman and Eisenhower. On one hand I think why does anybody care about these reverse proofs at all. They're modern, unattractive ( they look like a minstrel show), and no precious metal. One the other I think if people think 17k is scarce for Truman and Eisenhower then 50k shouldn't be close to enough for Kennedy. 2 years from now nobody will care much about these anymore as everybody will move on to new exploited mint product. Don't forget about Kennedy demand at least for awhile. Still think these will top higher than current offers unless buyers gang up for price control. If I'm completely wrong (very possible) $120 is not going to break the bank. I'll pack them away and forget about them.

It would be great if the guys who are doing this get left holding the bag.

The prices will come down on this stuff as time goes on. This will only help to sour the attitudes of collectors who get burned by these scams and will hurt the hobby.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

With a 50K posted mintage of this set, it should be relatively easy to get online a purchase you household limit. Does the ebay listings specify how many have been pre-ordered? image

I am always amazed by the number of people who buy things on eBay.

They are aware of them, yet not smart enough to buy them from the Mintimage
