I'm looking to buy a significant amount of gold but i'm hesitant because i'm not sure what to expect going forward...

Should i wait? If so, how low will it go??

If you were to buy proof gold, then the metal content would not dramatically affect the value of the coin. I use proof gold as you are looking at serious dollars and this falls into that category.

Why are you looking to buy a significant amount of gold when you don't have a thesis on what the price will do going forward???

The general sentiment seems to be that it will heading down, but by how much and how fast is hard to say.

If the PM market is manipulated as many believe it to be and probably some who know it to be, then it seems there are a few who have a very good idea of where it is going and by what route. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to post here and tell you what to do.

Are you talking a few hundred dollars or hundreds of millions? The phrase "significant" means vastly different things to different people.

What you're talking about is speculating........ and not a single person on the planet can predict what the price will do in the future.

If you're talking about a long-term play, diversification, or a hedge to inflation, that's (only slightly) different. I'd suggest soliciting advice from professionals, not random people on an Internet forum.

Bryce, what professionals are you speaking about? My two investment gurus that I use for stocks
don't even know what a $20 gold piece looks like let alone can give me advice on gold. I think the
formites would have a bit better info on purchasing gold. A lot better than my two stock guys and
a heck of a lot better than TV "experts".

I'm buying now seems good time to me. Now ifing the gold bugs are correct it will go to the moon so back up the truckimage Gold has been good to me, my problem is never having enough. I also use it more as a savings account than long term insurance type holding. I also trade a boat load of bullion for coins, so I go up and down drastically some timesimage

Personally I've done well lately with put options on gold.

It will hit $2,000 in our lifetime (if you are young enough) but the question is how many years will it stay below $800 after it falls that low. No one knows.

Instead of bullion or Eagles, you should consider TPG Saints. When gold falls, they don't fall as much and when gold goes up, they go up to.
