Made from cast transfer dies. Note the little casting pimples under TED on reverse and just above right
    wreath (tip).
Also note the die scratch in TY on the band (LIBERTY).

    bob

Just looked again and is that a reverse of '21?

The rough, sandy surfaces; the weakly defined and mushy details; the letters and date that look like they were designed by someone using a crayon; the artificial aging and the lack of any circulation marks just scream out authentic cast fake!

i showed these to "dealers" prior to showing them my authentic wares.

note to self; bad selling strategy. ><

good thing the people i do business with have a good level of trust for me or i wouldn't have sold much as i did.

This is why, when I went to China for work a few years ago, I picked some of these up in one of the major markets. A buck each.
I keep them around for educational purposes.

When I opened the thread, my first inclination, before even reading the poll choices or anything else, was "fake!".

    ++++1

also for the readers; the fakers also put thr rev of 79 saf on the 78-cc fairly often.

the bust dollars have mixed reverses fairly often.

i think ebay buyer has showed numerous seated type with improper reverses.

amazing how some basic knowledge for cf detection can help you out across the board.

does this have value as a collectible?

being the last fake you had posted
you was all excited about and it did have value as dictated by it's thread replies

is this a good fake or a bad fake?

Pretty sure he will say "no".
If memory is correct, previous show was a contemporary fake. Value is in that.
This is a modern Chinese fake. No value. Too many, not silver, too recent.

value is a relative term. financially, not so much. as a teaching tool, conversation piece etc. quite valuable.

the other morgan was a tough find and was sold many months ago. to someone into them as much as i or possibly more.

    hence these polls. image

id like to have a different one to do every week or remember to take the time as i have thousands of images.

i like doing them when i can use my images since even my bad images can be pretty effective but i dont have many fakes to post. some people are letting me image the ones they have.

Yes, the Chinese crooks are getting better at their trade. This is similar to the stuff they were putting out eight or ten years ago. image

Bad. Very bad. Even I spotted it as a fake from a mile off, and I'm not a Morganite.

The lettering on the reverse is pretty wretched.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
