Fun at the ANA! A few new bust halves

lkeigwinlkeigwin Posts: 16,891 ✭✭✭✭✭
I had a great time in Rosemont last week. Friends, collectors, and dealers were as much fun as the coins.

Several are at PCGS for crossing and correcting mechanicals. Here are those I took home.

I like them all but one is special.
Lance.

All are nice looking coins, but the two 1811's are superb.

Great halves, Lance, but double check the reverse pic of the 1820/19. It looks more like an 1809-1811 reverse to my eyes.

I remember balking at a 1794 half in PCGS VG10 back in 2003 at a Baltimore show because the seller wanted too much. It was priced at $4,000-something. imageimageimage

I never bought 1794, 1802, or 1815/2 halves, as the prices blew up before I could find nice examples. I'm seriously thinking about selling my bust half collection because it's never going to get completed. And then there are the 1796-7 coins.

Exceptionally nice newps- every one of them!

The 1794 half is beautiful. There are not many that look like that!

Just what I expect when I open one of your posts.

    Great CBH's and pics.

I was not expecting so many. And you have "several" at PCGS? Whoa!

Wow, fantastic haul! Glad to see you made the most of the show given the time and distance involved.

What in the world are you doing buying such an early date, the 1794? Jim must have held you up for lots of money for it. Yes, I really like it for the grade. I was shut out for the entire show, except for a single gold piece.

Hi Mozin. Yeah, I'm not sure I know what I'm doing with the early dates. I have a half dozen pre-turbans in modest grades. But no illusions about the 1796 and 1797. So only a very thin chance of a complete date set of flowing and draped busts.

Pre-turbs are a nice diversion while waiting patiently for better capped bust halves to be released from strong hands.

Yes, it was Jim's 1794. But I bought it from Sheridan, who bought it from Jim at the BHNC corn roast. So there's another layer of profit I ate. Nonetheless, it was a good market price and an example I like.

    Lance,

Thanks for sharing your coins with the rest of us. The level of quality of the coins and their photographs makes them incredibly engaging to the rest of us for study and enjoyment, as well as an exercise in envy management.

You had a very successful show, it would seem. Congrats!

    Great new stuff Lance !
Does that 1811/10 have more than the usual faint 0 visible, or is that a toning trick ?
