price looked right if it wasn't polished...seller had it listed with a return policy i figured if it wasn't polished that i was looking at some great luster $200...this is the "las vegas" part of my name and home
yeah that 56' proof set...i did not see a cameo sitting in there at all...but it did look like a type 1 in there

most of my "poor images, great coin" purchases were toned coins. here are a few nice examples:
a GSA dollar, off ebay. seller posted scans that showed almost no color, described it as "the craziest color toned dollar he has ever seen". buy-it-now price: $260. later graded MS64.
1880 Indian head cent. PCGS PR64RB. top 2 are seller's pics, bottom 2 were shot by Shane of Kryptonite Comics & Coins:
1884-O $1 NGC MS64. again, sold with scans of the coins that showed very little color. probably one of the coolest blue toners I've ever seen! again, pic by shane that later sold this coin for me on consignment.
This is a great thread with some awesome surprise examples. I don't have anything that matches the exact criteria.
I annoyingly mentioned it many times but the only "jaw dropper" coin I received in the mail was from a giveaway here several years back. It was a "post here" giveaway for a coin. No mention of what the coin was. My number was picked, PM's exchanged, coin mailed and received. My jaw hit the floor when I opened the package and saw an 1880-S Morgan MS66* PL beautifully toned.
