did the gun show thing last week. it was ok. no nh for me this weekend

Two tables (at the gun show) had some coins. The one guy was selling beat up, worn Morgans for $80...told him that was way too expensive. He said someone would buy them... I asked him if it bothered him to rip people off.... he just looked at me. No one gets too upset at gun shows...

I was at the show all day Friday and for a few hours on Saturday morning. I can't post pictures, but I did manage to find a very nice MS-63 1862/1862 V5 Repunched Date half dime with pretty peripheral toning, an ugly G-4 example of the 1848-O V1 Large O half dime, but with a full cud above ED of UNITED, and a VLDS example of the 1849/6 V2 half dime with very late stages of the multiple die cracks on the reverse. Bust half dimes were all but non-existent except for a few slabbed mint state 1831's, but there is nothing of interest in 1831.

Kind of a sparse crowd for a New Hampshire Coin & Currency Expo, but the camaraderie was good and the beer flowed freely in the lounge after bourse closing on Friday night. Someone said it was the custom to put all of your drinks on show promoter Ernie's tab, so I didn't want to break with tradition .....

Spent maybe 4 hours at the show today. Only picked up a few. This classic head has a nice even crusty type of look to it so I grabbed it.

Went on Friday for an hour or so, bought a PCGS holdered early green generation 1940S merc which called my name, then went down the street to happy hour at a place called Murphy's Taproom.

There was an outdoor band and it was lots of fun, spent more there than at the coin show..lol.

Another pickup, today...the slab is SUPER scuffed up, will crack later and re-photo.

PS. This is in an earlier blue label no prong holder, I got to tell you this coins has an amazingly clean cheek for the assigned grade. The coin is super common so it's irrelevant, but I can't believe the grade on the slab.

That '23 Peace would look super after a bath.... some of those 'Peacnik' gals clean up real nice...
