"Dear John" - book by Nicholas Sparks

Anyone read this book? It was recommended to me by a friend who said it was boring because it had all these coin collecting referrences. (a non-collector of course) I said - cool - sounds like a good read to me. I haven't gotten it yet. Just wondering if any forum members have read it and what did you think?

(btw, Hi all. I've been infrequent to the boards of late but I still lurk now and then)

I too have been told about it by my sister but haven't read it. I also wondered if it was any good from a coin collectors viewpoint.
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

He usually writes tear-jerker chick books... cannot imagine a book worth reading from him. Cheers, RickO
  • My wife has nearly all of his books, so I might check it out. Nicholas Sparks lives in my hometown, even see him around sometimes.

I believe it was eventually made into a movie, which included the coin-collecting parts.

My wife had to drag me to the theater to see this movie. Not worth watching the whole movie to see a few coin references. I would imagine the book is even harder to wade through.
