what do you think? probably a impossible feat, but I would assume many folks are going to feel a tad uncomfortable heading to Baltimore in 10 weeks

That would be a very hard task expecting all dealers to change their travel and confusing customers.
Now, if unrest continues for weeks to come, then all bets are off.

That being said, it would be a nice change of pace from the slower Summer Baltimore shows that we typically experience...I'd be all for a random Philly show, even though it's 2 hours further and much less convenient to fly.

I was thinking the same thing about Manson just this afternoon.
My family has had a business in Balto city for over 100 years.
My dad was telling me about the race riots of the 60s. He and one of his friends who both had business on the same block guarded their stores w/shotguns. My dad says that he aimed it at many a dirtbag and that was all that it took. His and his friends' stores were the only undamaged ones on the block. Of course, today even though the PD was not there for the shop owners folks like my Dad would be in the lockup while the goons who looted ran free.
As some on the forum know, my dad shot and killed an armed robber in his store which had moved a few buildings down by then in the early 80s. Tough area.
I do so love Balto though. Such a shame. This too shall pass.
I really feel for the totally innocent shop owners who have been devastated, as well as for the cops and others who have been injured.
For that matter, even though Gray had a long record and was a habitual offender, he may wall have been brutalized - something that he most certainly didn't deserve and I say that as a Deputy who deals with prisoners all the time. Too early to tell exactly what happened there.
Anyway, a horrible situation all the way around.
Hopefully some good will come of all this mess.
As with any profession, it only takes a few to screw things up. We, and I think the vast majority of LE are constantly trained on de-escalating situations. In the 13 years that I've been dealing with all manner of prisoners and offenders, it's been clear to me that if you treat people with dignity (hard to do given what some of them have done) and are respectful of them as human beings (also hard in come cases, but what must be done) but are clearly firm and leave no doubt that they will loose in any confrontation things generally go quite well w/minimal problems. It's just not that complicated - it's good for officer safety, public safety, for PR, for liability and it's the right thing to do. Pretty simple really. One thing's for sure - if a prisoner has a medical issue you get help immediately. This is the standard SOP for I'm sure every dept. There are a LOT of fantastic folks in BPD - I know a lot of them. Such a shame.
Whitman moved out of Philly because of union trouble. Don't reward bad union behavior because of criminal behavior. We should support the good people of Baltimore and not give the thugs what they want. Some of these thugs were not Baltimore residents. They were professional agitators who were sent there to cause trouble. I wish those people could be identified and prosecuted.

I always had a great show when Whitman ran the Atlanta show! I think the reason it ended was because to get consideration from the convention center the show needed to be big enough to rent 2 halls(they combine into 1 room)

For reasons unrelated to the current unrest, it would be a good idea for there to be one show in Philly each year and just two in Baltimore. Philly is more accessible to collectors in New England, upstate NY, and Ohio. Moreover, it is the home of the Philadelphia Mint, which has tremendous significance. There have been too many shows in Baltimore.
Stamford CT would also be a choice location. There are no sales taxes on coins in CT.
