At least a 9, i used to get excited walking down the beach(ok,still do) but i get more excited looking at a nicely struck coin then a well placed bathing suit.

19Lyds, No schill. I meant I'd be happy to take a $500 coin of your hands for less that a dollar. No underhanded activity intended. Really. I'd like to.

    10 when I score a great cherry-pick,

    1 when I get out-sniped.

In all seriousness, probably and 8 or a 9. Good digital pics have made it a lot easier to enjoy - I don't have to raid the box to see my collection...

I'll go with a 10. Especially when the right coin comes along with the right look, in the right holder with the right sticker at the right price.......

    << <i>8. More money would make it a 9 or 10. >>

I have my doubts. When is enough ever enough?

    8-ish for me, also.

I enjoy what I have just as much as those who have several more zeros on their receipts.

Several times last year and early this year I was a 10. I have not been able to find anything lately, so I am a 6 now.

Too many of my submissions with minor issues getting a no-grade while I see coin blanks in a holder with a grade. That does not make me happy. I would say a 5 right now.

For a second the other day, it was discouraging cutting out a 1970 D Silver Kennedy from a mint set for a customer, but then I cut the nickels out of the cellophane and put them into a Dansco Album and it felt like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders.

Maybe others do not share in this exuberance. That's okay, too. Neither coin had full steps.

    In other news :

If someone says "I don't have two nickels to rub together", they could be a numismatist, or poor, or both.

3 or 4 depending on the day. I used to enjoy it a lot when I was younger, and now it's just my profession. I don't really enjoy collecting much at all, and now research and being a reseller is becoming boring too.

Interesting concept. Maybe I look at it differently than some....

I derive enjoyment from this and other hobbies, but happiness comes primarily from friends & family. I'd say maybe 5% of my "total happiness" comes from coins. Should we round that up to 1 out of 10?
