Had the pleasure to support a local NJ coin club show this weekend held at Bridgewater, NJ
I must say that I try to set up at about 4 random coin clubs during the year, to support the efforts which really is about supporting the hobby.
These folks put together a very well run coin club show, nicely organized from members setting up electric cords, helping get the dealers in and making sure the dealers had help if they needed to take a bathroom break or stretch their legs.
Security in place so that was a plus, and the turnout even surprised me because it was probably the nicest day on the east coast that we have had in a long time 70 and sunny.
I do not know exact numbers (I'll let the membership post that if they wish) but in my observation it was a nice steady turnout all day long
It is refreshing to see well behaved children attending with their parents and so good for our hobby
Sold a few coins, bought a few interesting NEWPS and saw a lot of dealers from the NJ area that I dont get to see very often... a few more well know dealers set up there as well since that is their home turf area.... names like Spencer Peck and Tom Hyland who would be familiar to most on these boards..... speaking of boards saw a collection of old coin boards (David Lange would be mouth watering) on sale/display... probably good pricing...not really my thing so didnt pick em up but would be great in a picture frame on display!
Interesting mix of coins... much more copper and currency then one would have expected.... The Elks lodge was a very nice venue to hold a show.... carpet and chandeliers which sure beats some bingo halls
best of all... nice to meet so many folks who have bought from me over the years and finally actually got to see my face in person!
Hope to see more folks up at Bay State this coming weekend!
