  It looks like it was struck through grease. I have seen two sides pieces, but this coin is affected more profoundly than most of them I have seen.

  Also along with the reeded edge the rims are fully formed.
  
  So it's just struck through grease and not a die adjustment trial strike.

  The coin below is a die adjustment strike (purchased from CTF) and shows neither:

  Something to remember when trying to determine whether a coin is a die adjustment strike or a grease impacted die...
  
  The high points of a coin design are the LAST part to fill in, and ONLY do so with a complete strike. So if you have any high detail on the coin, it CANNOT be a die adjustment strike.
  
  Like the quarter posted above, it will also not have developed rims, since that's also one of the last things that forms on a coin during the strike, and it requires a complete strike.
