  Hard to tell for sure. At first glance it looks like a lamination but I see marks on the edge where it looks like maybe it was squeezed.
  I still don't think it would have split that way though. I'd have to see it in hand under magnification to give a better opinion.

  looks like planchet lamination improper alloy / split after striking

  regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything
